Pillow Bling

Trim photos in bottom right hand corner belong to Samuel & Sons and the rest to me courtesy of William Anderson Interiors

Trimmy, trim, trims!
One of the absolute most fun parts of making pillows is picking out the trim, or as some designer's call it, the "bling".
I mean trims are fun, really fun. You can't deny it.
I'm guilty of self-welting quite a bit, but honestly that's usually because of budget restrictions.
Trims, like cord, fringe, tapes, etc. can be put on more than just pillows and drapery: Think lamp shades, bed skirts, duvets, headboards, sofas, chairs, and heck why not dining chairs?
Have fun with it!

On a budget?
Buy simple shams or shades at your favorite home store, I love TJ Maxx and Home Goods.
Order some trim or even check out your local craft supply store (Beverly's, Michael's, etc.) and whip out the handy-dandy glue gun or stitch them on yourself!

Here's an easy How-To I just googled, I'm sure there are plenty out there:

My favorite source for trims is Samuel and Sons, they are to the trade only, so contact me for pricing and ordering.

Have fun with it!

Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

Can you say obsessed, yet again?
First gold and now ribbon...
There are just so many darned excellent ways to use ribbon, I just can't get over how much I love it.
Every Fourth of July I deck my hair and sometimes even my clothes with navy and white striped grosgrain ribbon. It's such a simple and thrifty way to spruce anything up!
There are so many other ways besides wrapping packages with it, I love the idea of wrapping it around the base of each cake layer...
Here are my faves:
Cut strips, over lap them and glue as fun banners.

Cut little strips and tie to the end of cut bamboo skewers
Do-it-yourself drink sticks: HERE

To hang a wreath

To tie silverware for a little added fun

But of course, the wedding bouquets!
This one is my absolute favorite!

To hang pomanders

Another beautiful bouquet! Sorry I'm obsessed!
Just ordered this for our up and coming nuptials!
You MUST check out The Pink Giraffe... I love this place!

Sew ribbon to the bottom of towels for a fun gift or special touch to a bathroom
My mom used to make hooded baby towels with custom ribbon sewn on the edges, so cute!

To tie programs at any event

Wrapped around mason jars as centerpieces

TOO cute! Just using ribbon in a bow would suffice, but this is great!

I Dream of... A Beautiful New Bed

I can't stop thinking about our future home together
I don't need a big master bedroom, just one large enough for an enormous bed for my pea family to snuggle up in
My mohair upholstered headboard with dog hair will drive me crazy, I know it
But I don't care. Bring it.
Cold day today... go snuggle up in your bed!

Pause: On My Way to Work

What I'm listening to?
Doris Day station on Pandora

Mornings like this I'm always curious as to how the day will turn out.

Foggy mornings are so unpredictable, could be cool and wet, cold and dry, rainy, warm, who knows?

There is something very calming about these mornings, I love them! Running in the fog feels good on the lungs...

Have a beautiful day today!

Little splash of green, and velvet too - my fave!

EMH and all her fabulousness!

Green makes me smile, it's such a happy colour.
High gloss Kelly green walls in particular.
Always reminds me of St. Patty's Day... which this year will be my bachelorette party with my girlfriends in the Napa Valley - Woohoo!
Green on the walls would be spectacular, but fun added hints here and there would be just as fabulous...
I am green with envy to that lucky gal or gent out there who gets to paint their wood paneled library walls in a high gloss Kelly green.
Any takers?
Would love that client!

And... speaking of green.
Let me introduce you to the one and only EMH.
Oh, EMH, one my best girlfriends.
Through thick and think she's all over the board the greatest friend ever.
Her favorite colour is literally every shade of green.
How gorgeous is she in this hue (and in general)?
She happens to love these chairs she is perched so gracefully on.
Let me share my chairs with you while were at it...
These are vintage Palecek Chairs that I found on Craigslist through an estate sale for a whopping $100.00 for the pair.
New cushions made from some fabric remnants... presto change-o.
Thrifty finds are my favorite!
*Fabric is a discontinued celadon/aqua and tan Duralee fabric.

Treats... Recession Style

How To:
DIY Peppermint Mocha
I'm a strange breed I tell ya.
Too cheap to order a peppermint mocha but
How I just spent $200 on these nude lovelies I.do.not.know...
"Say Myspace!"
Dress & Shoes: JCrew
Bracelet: Stella & Dot

Clearly I am confident BRS isn't reading this...
Hey, I was making a return from something I bought with a Christmas gift card... so there!
Trying to save money right now?
Steer clear of J.Crew
And p.s. I took this picture to send to KLW to approve my "going-out" outfit
She gets about four of these a week bless her heart
p.p.s Can you see my new iPhone case? Ugh, disgustingly cute...
GOLD sparkles! And yes, from the Crew.

Okay, side tracked... my $2.50 mocha:
Medium Coffee in a large cup (smile) - $2.00
2 pumps of peppermint - $0.50
Total: $2.00-2.50 depending if the smile worked or not
Then: walk to counter with milk/cream/sugar
Add: big shakes of cocoa powder
Stir
Add: Half and Half or milk
Stir
Sip
Smile with content that you just saved $2.00

I about had a heart attack when I walked into Bucks over Christmas and two peppermint mochas were just about $10.00

So, you're welcome.
